Boxing gold medal winners in the last day of Beijing’s Olympics

August 24th, 2008

Light heavy-weight:

Chinese Zhang Xiaoping wins gold after beating Irish man Kenny Egan who thought that the score didn’t reflect the true result of the event (11-7).

Kenny’s complain is one of the hundreds presented and discussed by the IOC (international Olympic committee) who suspects bribery and “corrupted” judges.

Light flyweight:

World champion zou Shiming smashed Mongolian Serdamba Purevdorj whose coach threw the towel declaring forfeit in the 2nd round; the Mongolian fighter suffered from a shoulder injury that required him to admit defeat. Even Zou didn’t bet on such an easy final game. Before Serdamba’s forfeit, the score was 1-0.

Bantamweight:

Badar-Uugan Enkhbat faced Cuba’s Yankiel Leon in what looked like an easy final game for the Mongolian fighter. In the end of the rounds, the count settled at 16-5. Badar is the silver medalist of the world championship, and just got into the National books; he’s the 1st Mongolian to win a gold medal in boxing.

Lightweight:

Frenchman Daouda Sow was hammered by Alexi Tichshenko: 11-9.

The Russia’s fighter was Athens’s 2004 featherweight champion, and just became the 4th boxer in history to earn gold medals in 2 different classes.

Welterweight:

Kazakhstan’s Bakhyt Sarsekbayev was able pass-by the Cuban Carlos Banteaux, and became the Olympic champion. Carlos was Cuba’s last chance to win a title knowing that the Southern country managed to win at least 1 gold medal in every Olympic that it took part of, except for Mexico’s 1968

Dream Redeem Team cashes Gold!! Respect for Spain 118-107

August 24th, 2008

Spanish team stood tall in the 1st half of the game, keeping the Dream team far from flying with the scores. Spaniards’ defensive strategy was starting to cause trouble for the States when it switched from Zone defense into court pressure putting the Americans into a state of tension, especially with the last 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter. Europeans are fighting the Americans with their own weapon: pressure defense.

The Spanish NBA star Pau Gasol (Los Angeles Lakers) is leading Spain under the basket, and had earlier announced while being spotted on sport news and on TV that this is his last game with the National team because of pressured NBA schedule that’s not keeping him anytime to relax.

Calderon, injured during an earlier game, was pushed into the field for emotional purposes, not to mention that he scored a 3 pointer while bringing back his team into the game.

Both teams enduring from few annoying whistles blown by the referee, who was clearly trying to ease the tension; an excuse maybe for easy shrills?

As the 2nd quarter came to an end, Spain’s players were decreasing the US lead that circled around the 15 points into only 6 with mad expressions on the faces of Lebron James and friends.

Navaro led the flamingos in the 3rd quarter that was all about fighting over every single ball. His penetrations under the basket were hard to contain with Spain bringing the best of the game, as the lead came to a single basket of difference.

The last shift of the game wasn’t different at all. The States kept on heading the numbers but the toreros’ bid on wiping American smiles paid off! The game was so intense and close that none of the players had the occasion to show teeth before the last minute.

Spanish basketball players are worth respect: Rudy Fernandez’s slam over Dwight Howard was a spark for the crowds who were on feet as the arena trembled with cheering the 2 points difference in score. Spain and its NBA stars were a thin line away from creating the blow and seizing control over the game that appeared to be a confrontation between 2 NBA teams, but Kobe Bryant’s MVP title was put into action to show what he is really made off! Despite the group motion of the Europeans, USA’s skills out-put the European school and took back the gold into America… a moment that’s been much awaited since Sydney’s 2000; USA basketball Jerseys are the Olympic champions, a bet that’s been set, further more anticipated since the beginning of the Beijing games and just got cashed in gold.

What started like a simple bidding was turned into a matter of reputation and dignity for the NBA basketball that just showed who’s the MAN!!!

Heavy weight boxing: Rakhim Chakhkiev Olympic Champion!!

August 23rd, 2008

The world champion Clemente Russo was beaten earlier today in the final game with Russia’s Rakhim. Final score 4-2, it was a game of tension and heavy weights for the fighters, yet superb for the crowds to enjoy. Sports betting sites were registering a considerable advantage for the Italian, but Rakhim turned around all the odds and earned the gold medal.

Chakhkiev, who knew that it was going to be a close game, was betting on this Olympic Games to revenge his lost game in AIBA championship by a single point! Gladly for him, his bid got thumbs up; he is the gold medalist of Beijing’s games.

W. Basketball: USA mash Kiwi girls 65-92 and Win Gold medal

August 23rd, 2008

Absolutely brilliant game for the USA basketball jerseys in offense and defense, Americans were seizing control since the 2nd quarter of the match, after trailing 13-10 in the 1st shift.

While all were bidding on a close and intense game, Women NBA girls hushed all odds and suspicious sports news about the effectiveness against strong teams, and cruised with a score average of 27 points, to look like a winning bet for wearing gold!

USA has beaten Australia in 3 finals in 3 Olympics

Opals totally lost control in 2nd quarter, making turnovers and being out-rebounded while the score average was going uphill from 11 to 27 at the ending.

Stats show that US women’s average of field goals reached 63% in face of Opals’ 22%, a crystal clear image that shows how the Americans were better in the game, compared to the Aussies.

4 players were fouled out in the last quarter, 2 of each team including Lisa Leslie (USA) and Lauren Jackson (Australia).

USA just won 33 games in a row, unbeatable since the loss in Barcelona’s 1992.

Kara Lawson headed the US’ score sheet with 15 points, aside of Candace Parker’s 14; Australia-wise, Lauren Jackson made 20 points.

In the end, Lisa leslie and the rest of the team earned the gold medal, after an enthusiastic game apparently easy. Leslie declared that her Olympic’s participation is over for good, gladly on top of her performance and achievements. Boxing middle-weight DeGale wins gold: is boxing easy???

August 23rd, 2008

James DeGale’s Britain cherished boxing player. After beating 2004’s Olympic champion Artayev, it was clear that James is a winning bet.

Highly provoked and motivated by phone calls and messages from his home land, he insisted on beating all odds and bring back gold.

Emilio Correa’s father is gold medalist in Munich Olympics in 1972

After irritating his opponents on TV and in Sports news that boxing is easy, Correa had something to say; he said it all, bringing the best of both players in a marathon game of 16-14, a score that most of all demonstrates the will to win gold. In the end James DeGale’s voice came out loud, settling the game in his favor and earning the golden medal.

James DeGale’s gold medal is the 2nd in Britain’s history. 1st gold was gained by Audley Harrison in Sydney’s 2000.

W.Basketball: Russia takes bronze!! 2 Thumbs up for China (94-81)

August 23rd, 2008

Russian adventure finally came to an end, a happy ending! Most of all, Becky Hammon’s bet to go along with the Russian line up, instead of joining the Americans was in a way or another a winning bid; a bronze medal in Olympics is definitely an accomplishment.

On the other hand, Chinese players offered the crowds a fair show, looking good on TV. Despite many mistakes on defense, particularly in rebounding, the Asian team displayed a set of tactics starring and depending on Chen Nan’s 26 points but scarcely 3 rebounded balls. China who was trailing by 19 points in the 3rd quarter managed to reduce the average into 11.

Russia’s main key to success was the long range lane, scoring nine 3 pointers of which Hammon achieved 4/6; a middling of 66.7% .

Becky Hammon earned the Russian Nationality, and joined Russia’s national team during this summer. The originally American in Russian basketball jerseys is being an ultimate leader by exemple to her team mates.

Tatiana Scshegelova hit 15 and center Maria Stepanova made 15 dots accompanied by 9 rebounds.

Leading scorer for the Europeans was Becky Hammon with 22 points; Russian bidding on Becky and vice versa turned out to be a winning bet.

FLYWEIGHT boxing: Thai’s Somjit Olympic’s Champ.

August 23rd, 2008

Silver medalist in the world championship Somjit Jongjohor finally reached the golden dream by out-classing the Cuban Andy Laffita (Pan America champion and silver medalist in world championship 2005) by 8 points to 2.

Asian champion who bet on his speed, seemed like Cuba’s fighter was fighting a ghost, an illusion!

Thai boxer was in peak of the game while Andy was out of energy… and focus.

Somjit won the gold medal, Laffita took the silver reward while Georgy Balakshin(3rd) and Vicenzo Picardi (4th) took the bronze.

Scandal !!! Boxing bribes and manipulation

August 23rd, 2008

On the 21st there were 231 objections presented to the committee, and all of them were rejected. They were all related to counting point’s techniques and counting in favor of Chinese fighters. The judges rejected all these accusations knowing that 231 objections are capable of causing some kind of scandal and destroy the reputation of Beijing’s Olympics. However, AIBA had suspected some manipulations during the last 2 months and it sent an IOC observer.

IOC is the international Olympic Committee

Mr Terry Smith, the delegate of the committee denied the setting of any pre-set games but he came close around the scoring technique that required the judges to push a button at the same time.

Despite this AIBA (International Boxing Association) step, more protests have been witnessed especially in the semi-final game that joined Alexis Vastine and Felix Diaz, where Felix was awarded 2 points in the final seconds and eliminating the French Alexis.

After 20 years of suspicious behavior in boxing, things were looking better lately, said an official of the committee, but it seems that Beijing is a special case and we will deal with it!
